Alexa: Following the Family Business

Starting at just 8 years old, Alexa Blanda discovered her future in the pool and hot tub industry by accompanying her father to jobsites during her summer vacations. As a teenager, she then began working in her family’s retail store, helping customers with chemistry and pool issues. After college, Alexa moved into the Service Department and began growing her career within the family business, Mill Bergen Pools.

“This industry has so much success because we all have endless helpful and reliable resources at our fingertips. We are there for each other.”

Now serving as Service Manager, Alexa has prioritized networking and professional development to get to where she is today. She first joined the Northeast Spa & Pool Association and volunteered at the Atlantic City Pool & Spa Show, moderating courses and listening to presentations. Alexa also completed courses to become a Certified Pool & Spa Maintenance Specialist and a Certified Pool & Spa Service Technician.

Alexa says the people she has encountered throughout the industry have played a valuable role in her career. Her connections have inspired her to provide the best service for her clients, while also expanding her mindset when it comes to new ideas to grow her business.

“This industry has so much success because we all have endless helpful and reliable resources at our fingertips. We are there for each other,” she says. “Whether it be the people we meet networking, literal material resources, classes we take, it is all there for us at our disposal. We all want to see each other’s [companies] grow and flourish, as well as the industry as a whole.”

Alexa demonstrates the many opportunities for growth in this industry, and she is passionate about helping others succeed. She currently serves as the chair of the PHTA Service Council and is also in the Membership Committee for the Northeast Spa & Pool Association. “It is extremely exciting being involved nationally and working together with so many talented and successful individuals to improve and elevate our service industry!” she says. “It helps me to see the bigger picture.”
